About Me
My name is Elizabeth (ella/she) and I'm an Aerospace Engineering PhD student at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. My Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez Campus and I currently work in the Saxton-Fox Turbulent Dynamics Group, where I study nonlinear interactions and coherent structure organization in wall-bounded turbulent boundary layers through wind tunnel experiments.
Apart of my interest in turbulent flows, I support fellow undergraduate and graduate students, particularly from underrepresented groups. From helping draft graduate school applications and review fellowship proposals, to listening and connecting people, I enjoy and find satisfaction in helping others. It takes a village to become successful, especially being from a minority in STEM, and I believe leaning on each other is how we get to the other side and make a better world for our communities.
